In this video I’ll show you How to Create a Bootable USB on Chrome OS

Part 1 – Download the ISO you want to make into a bootable USB.

  • Go to the website where your desired ISO is and download the ISO.
  • Once downloaded, change the .iso extension of the filename to .bin and accept the message that tells you this might be a bad idea.

Part 2 – Create the Bootable USB

  • Open the Chrome browser on your Chromebook.
  • Go to the Chrome Web Store.
  • Do a search for the Chromebook Recovery Utility app.
  • Install the app.
  • Launch the app.
  • Look at the top right of the Chromebook Recovery Utility App screen. Next to the X used to close the window is a gear/cog. Click it.
  • From the dropdown, click “Use local image”
  • In the screen that pops up, select the filename that you changed from .iso to .bin and click the “Open” button.
  • Insert your USB stick. Make sure it is at least 8GB.
  • On the left side of the screen you’ll see some text that says “Select the media you’d like to use” and below that you should see a dropdown that says “Select”.
  • Click “Select” and select the USB stick you just inserted.
  • Click the “Continue” button in the bottom right of the screen.
  • The next screen will be a confirmation screen. Verify that it is correct and then click “Create Now”.
  • Now you just wait for the creation process to complete. Once it’s done, make sure to safely eject the USB stick.

That’s it. You’re done.
