Meet Bose Frames

In Product Review, Sponsored by dbtech

I’ve been working with Best Buy on projects like this for a while, but this was the first time they sent me their product to try out. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical about the fit and sound after reading about Bose Frames.

Then they showed up in the mail.

The Bose Frames look and feel amazing. They aren’t too heavy or too bulky. They feel like “normal” sunglasses with thicker arms on the side and nothing more than that. Of course, there’s a little extra weight to them because of the electronics and batteries and whatnot in them, but they are still MUCH lighter than you would expect.

Putting them on and hearing them for the first time is quite an experience as well. Bose has managed to make it SOUND like you’ve got headphones or earbuds in your ears while having nothing ON your ears at all. There are a couple of speakers along the arm of the glasses that pumps music and phone calls into your ears while still letting you have spacial awareness of your surroundings.

Bose Frames is a line of stylish, audio sunglasses that deliver a truly remarkable personal audio experience without anything in or on the ears. Unlike existing open-ear products that use bone conduction, Bose Frames use a custom-designed speaker in conjunction with a series of patented acoustic chambers and ports to steer audio into the listener’s ears from the temples of the glasses. The overall result is unbelievable audio clarity and spaciousness that seems almost impossible given the product’s size. What’s really mind-blowing is how full and rich the audio can sound for the wearer, but how little of that can be heard by anyone else, even if they’re standing next to the wearer.
