In this video we’ll take a look at running Batocera on a LattePanda. For this video we’re going to run Batocera as a live CD which makes running it easier as we don’t have to install anything on the LattePanda.
What You’ll Need
- LattePanda and power supply
- USB keyboard
- 8GB or larger USB drive
- USB game controller
- Ethernet cable
- HDMI cable
- Windows 10 PC
Once you have both files downloaded, plug your USB drive into your computer and use Etcher to copy Batocera to the USB drive. After it has completed writing all the files, remove it from your PC and plug it into your LattePanda. While you’re at it, plug in the rest of your accessories to your LattePanda and power it on. Tap ESC and DEL on your keyboard to get to the LattePanda BIOS. In the BIOS, go to the boot settings and change the first boot option to be your USB drive.
Save and exit.
Now your LattePanda should boot into Batocera and you can copy your ROMS over via your network.
I took a look at Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Sonic 3D Blast on MegaDrive and everything ran perfectly. There were no stutters or lag or anything to affect the gameplay negatively. After that, I took a look at Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 on N64. As with the previous 2 games, everything ran perfectly smoothly and there were no stutters or lag that I could notice.
I wanted to push the system a bit, so I played a couple of GameCube games and, well, it was pretty awful. The lag and stuttering in both the video AND audio made the games unplayable. Definitely going to have to skip GameCube games on this setup.
